STATE LEGISLATION

State advocacy is essential to building support for education issues and initiatives. The Los Angeles Unified Office of Government Relations pursues an advocacy agenda approved by the Board of Education and the Superintendent every year that outlines legislative and funding priorities to increase academic and social-emotional learning outcomes, promote equity and excellence for all, and achieve organizational sustainability to better serve students, staff and the communities the District serves. In addition, the advocacy team also develops positions on legislative measures that impact Los Angeles Unified and works with executive and legislative leaders in Sacramento to protect and maximize state funding.
